Love is the only mission
Our slogan as a Church is “Love is the only mission” we believe that the job of the church is not to pass moral judgement or enforce rules but simply to love others. We are proud to be an inclusive church where all are welcome, loved, accepted and valued. The Bible tells us God’s love is unconditional and we believe the love of the church should be too.
We are a small community of people that believe Church should be done a bit differently to how you may expect.
We have 5 key principles:
The only mission is love, the primary purpose is to love people, no strings attached, no motive, no conditions just to love as Jesus did.
Acceptance not judgement, the Church should be an outpost of grace not an enforcer of rules. John 3:17 tells us Jesus came to save the world not to judge it and that must be our role too.
Critical thinking, we encourage debate and discussion, just because someone is in leadership or speaking doesn’t mean they are right. However, a debate isn’t personal and it isn’t an argument.
Community not isolation, Church should be about bringing a diverse range of people together with no precondtions on membership accepting everyone.
Partnering with God, when people feel loved and accepted they are equipped to partner with God to help restore the world and those in it to his original perfect creation. We do this by learning to see ourselves as God sees us,worthy, unique, loved and powerful.
We believe in...
The one true God who lives eternally in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
The love, grace and goodness of God in creating, sustaining, redeeming and restoring the world.
The divine inspiration and authority of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God – fully trustworthy for faith and conduct.
The dignity of all people made in God’s image to love, be holy and care for creation, marred by sin, losing their identity but regaining it in relationship with Jesus.
The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ – born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying the price of sin and defeating evil demonstrating the power of love.
The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his ever increasing reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us towards restoration, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.
The church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers — given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit’s gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting love and extending God’s Kingdom.
The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God, who will bring eternal life and establish a new heaven and new earth.
